Jill Ann Press is a Copenhagen-based artist specializing in paintings and graphic design. Her work is marked by a cartoonish style with tongue-in-cheek references to popular culture. Thus she has given her take on anything from Miami Vice to strip clubs and the nursery rhyme about Humpty Dumpty.

Jill Ann Press blends paint, photos and words with such irreverent intensity – erasing parts of a Ford Mustang and repainting the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign – that the result is greater than the sum of its parts.

Much of her work deals with the American Dream. But in the vision of Jill Ann Press, America is a feeling more than a place, and her land of hope and dreams is not only American but human. Perhaps that's why her work resonates with Scandinavians as well as Americans.

Also, it is interesting to note that on Ms. Press' canvas, the American Dream  is more than just romantic. Sometimes it's a fairytale, sometimes it's scary. But it's always fascinating.
